Solve:
- If the fractions are dissimilar, find the Greatest Common Factor of the two denominators, this will affect the numerators after multiplying.
[tex] \sf \frac{7 \times 1}{8 \times 1} + \frac{3 \times 2}{4 \times 2} = n \\ \\ \sf \frac{7}{8} + \frac{6}{8} = n[/tex]
- Add the fractions (numerators only).
[tex] \sf \frac{7}{8} + \frac{6}{8} = \frac{13}{8} \\ [/tex]
- If the fraction is improper, convert it into a Mixed Fraction.
[tex] \sf\frac{13}{8} =1 \frac{5}{8} \\ [/tex]
Thus, the sum of the two given fractions is 1 ⅝
