SIGNS OF VOLCANIC ERUPTION
An active volcano is a threat to nearby communities. Below are some of the common signs of an impending volcanic eruption:

- Prior to an eruption, the magma below the volcano pushes upward through the rocks and generates small earthquakes or tremors beneath the volcano.
[tex] Increased [/tex] [tex] Gas Emission [/tex]
- When rocks melt, gases present in the molten rocks are released. These gases include carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide (which smells like rotten eggs).
[tex] Surface Deformation [/tex]
- The accumulation of magma beneath the volcano causes the ground to swell.
