APPLICATION Fractals 1. Fractals can be formed by repeating steps in a process called iteration. Or simply, it is a process or procedure that is repeated. 2. You can continue until the steps become too small to draw. However, the steps could continue for an infinite number of iterations. 3. At each stage, a portion of the figure is a reduced copy of the entire figure at the previous stage. This property is called self-similarity. The diagram below shows stages 0, 1, and 2 for a fractal tree. Make a larger copy of these stages and draw the next stage in your notebook or on separate sheets of paper.
