In order for a computer to communicate with other computers on a network, there must be some sort of connection between them. This is known as configuration. The three main types of configurations that need to be done on a computer to make it work on a network are Domain Name System (DNS), Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
