Depends on definition of Farmer. If you define the basic farmer who owns maybe a piece of land like half hectare. He can be productive for a local supply of goods. Farmer with no land that is another story. And a Farmer with capital and land who can maintain international standards you can find his goods inside the supermarket. To the senator point of view he is probably correct but not to blame the farmer. Because if the senator want the farmer competitive they should support the farmer by giving big budget in agriculture. Note 3decades passed by and the main basic issue was the agrarian reform law it was not even finished to implement. Some majority of farmers don’t own the land, then rapid urbanization, ex. I used to see south expressway in the 80’s this is a long rice field paddy with irrigation but now all subdivision. Why it was converted? is it not in the law that irrigated land cannot be converted to housing? Law makers are law breakers or law makers for their own good but will blame the adminstration. Are they not part of the government?
