1. Why would geologists need seismic data from three stations in order to calculate the epicenter of an earthquake? Why would they not be able to only use two stations? ​
Because if you only have one or two station you can't use the Triangulation Method. The Triangulation Method requires three different station in order to locate the earthquake epicenter.
