Whenever I am reading an old conversation of mine, I feel I am time traveling to those fun-filled moments which I am sure shall never repeat. It reminds me that people may change, but these lovely old messages at least keeps their charm alive. Sometimes, when I have fights with my best buddy, I prefer to read the old messages - It reminds me of the sweet time we spend - may be it would be planning a trip, reviewing a movie, bullying each other over some secrets, and talking about the future.
Life does not have a feature to rewind, nor we have an ability to remember what we said a long before. But when we engrave them in form of messages, we are blessed with a chance to revisit the same day, same moment with the same person (who might not be there in your life anymore) and make us Smile.
