No reason whatsoever. We came about through evolution and as with every other species we are supposed to propagate and then die as the next generation repeats. We happened to evolve our brains as well and so managed to extend our lives and ponder upon the meaning of it all just like what you are doing. So we created concepts like religion and love to give life ‘meaning’. Jobs and hobbies to occupy our time and entertain us. Rules of society to follow like sheep.
