Awareness to the Effect of Digital Addiction
What is digital addiction? Did you know that most of us nowadays already suffered from this kind of addiction? When can we say that we already have this kind of addiction? Digital addiction starts from exposing ourselves in the internet using our different kinds of gadgets until you come to the point that you can’t control yourself from using the gadgets overtime.
Technology really make a big impact in our everyday lives like we made it easier to communicate to our loveones. It also gives us entertainment online like social media, watching movies and series, playing games but are you aware to the harmful things that it can cause to our lives mentally, emotionally and physically? If you’re not then you should know these before you are going to end up in digital addiction.
You are now having unhealthy sleeping habbits because you are busy browsing the different kinds of social media, games, or whatever sites that you want to browse. Lack of sleep can affect our body and mental health. It can lead to insomia, anemic and lost of appetite and eye problems. It can also affect our academic or work performance.
To the parents , this is a serious problem to most of your children that you should be aware. Sometimes we tend to forget how to manage the time spend by your child in the internet. A child should not be exposed too much in using gadgets because it can affect their mental health and behavior. Parents should not use the gadgets as one way that your child will behave accordingly. Manage also the sites that you’re child is accessing because it can also affect his behavior and attitude according to what the child sees in the sites and videos. According to my research, when the child suffer from digital addiction, it may result to poor eyesight in such a young age. It may also result to the child’s lack of socializing skills where the child is incapable to talk and play with other child because of too much using the gadgets.
To the millennials nowadays, digital addiction is also a serious problem that we should learn on how to limit ourselves in exposing ourselves in the internet. There are many advantages in using the internet specially in doing our research but we often do some unnecessary things that can lost focus in our studies and this is a bad habbit. I understand that we needed internet to entertain ourselves online but we should not let the gadgets or the internet to control our daily lives. It is us that should know how to control the usage of it. I wrote this essay to warn everyone to be self-aware to this what we called Digital Addiction because this is one of the reasons why a lot of people are experiencing mental health problems that can lead to depression. It can also lead to family problems where you don’t have much time to bond with and communicate to each other because of using gadgets. Medical problems will occur if you are exposing your self too much the internet and not doing the proper ergonomics in using the gadgets. It may also result to academic difficulties because you forgot your responsibilities and priorities as a student.
Here are some of my tips on how to avoid digital addiction:
1. Limit your internet use.
2.Keep yourself away from gadgets and find way to do other productive things.
3.Think of reasons why you always use the internet too much.
4. Try to engage in outdoor activities where you develop your socializing skills.
5. Seek for advice to the professionals if this problem gets worst.
Don’t think that you can’t live without internet, mobile phones, or whatever gadgets you have. Did you realize what is really important? It is your life that really matters the most because staying mentally, emotionally and physically healthy is what the real meaning of a normal and beautiful living.
