Answer:

7.4.2 Flight deck design

In September 2007, EASA implemented a new airworthiness rule (Certification Specification 25.1302) that mandates for the error-tolerant design of flight deck equipment on all new large commercial aircraft. The stimulus for the rule was the FAA Human Factors Team Report on the Interfaces between Flightcrews and Modern Flight Deck Systems (1996), which was commissioned as a result of several accidents occurring to new (at the time) technology airliners. This was the first time a rule explicitly addressing human factors issues had been implemented in the airworthiness regulations.

More:

The roots of human error are manifold and have complex interrelationships with all aspects of the operation of a modern airliner, especially training. During the last decade ‘design-induced’ error has become of particular concern to the airworthiness authorities, particularly in the highly automated third (and now fourth) generations of airliners.
