8. A cylindrical can with a radius of 2 dm and a height of 5dm is full of
vinegar. The storekeeper wants to put the vinegar in 200 ml bottles
for the customers. How many bottles can he fill? (1dm3=1000mL)

Sagot :

Given:

    Radius = 2 dm

    Height = 5 dm

    1 dm³ = 1000 mL

Solve for volume of can:

    V = πr²h

    V = (3.14) (2)² (5)

    V = (3.14) (4) (5)

    V = 62.8 dm³

    The volume of can is 62.8 dm³.

Solve for how many mL does the can have:

    1 dm³ : 1000 mL

    62.8 dm³ : x

       1       =    62.8

    1000            x

    x = (62.8)(1000)

    x = 62,800 mL

    The can has 62,800 mL of vinegar.

Solve for how many bottles can he fill:

    =   62,800

           200

    = 314

    He can fill 314 peices of 200mL bottles with vinegar.
