Earth is a special planet. It has liquid water, plate tectonics, and an atmosphere that shelters it from the worst rays of the sun. The fact that the Earth hosts not only life, but intelligent life, makes it doubly unique.
It's also has a very hospitable temperature and mix of chemicals that have made life possible here, most of our planet is covered with water. the temperature allows the liquid water to persist for a long time.
