Atomic number or also known as the proton number is the basis of naming the elements in the periodic table. If the atom has 1 proton then it is known as isotopes of hydrogen and so on.

Atoms are composed of protons, electron and neutron. Both protons and neutron are located in the nucleus of an atom while the electron is located outside the nucleus of an atom. The basis for the name the atom is the number of protons or also known as the atomic number. Atoms with the same number of electrons and proton is said to be neutral atom.. When electron is more then the number of proton then that is atom is negative charge while more protons is positive charge since electron carries negative charge while protons carries positive charge.
