The royal family is hounded by paparazzi every single day. Every hint of a pregnancy, every bit of ‘news’ about how a pregnancy is progressing, and every moment of each child’s life is reported internationally. Quietly moving a special needs child out to the country isn’t an option anymore. Hiding birth defects from the general population isn’t an option - unless they somehow manage to claim stillbirth and secretly move the child to another location/household. Protecting these children from the public eye is not an option for the royal family. These children are born to be seen. Period. Therefore, giving birth to a child who is anything less than ‘perfect’ (or perfectly normal) presents a serious problem.
