Simply because they have different aspirations in life, that's what they want to be and have. We all don't have the right to define and call them as "Gays" or "Lesbians", for they are just being what they want. If they want to act that way and be that way, then, let them be, as long as they will know their limits and people also. Then, nothing is wrong, and would ever be wrong, especially that we are secured if having the idea that it is indeed none of our business if they will possess that kind of qualities, in the end, they are still and will be seen as "Man" and "Woman".
