Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) — Lives lost to Typhoon Karding’s wrath rose to 12 after another drowning victim was added to the count, disaster response officials said Friday
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMCA) said the latest fatality is from Tanay, Rizal.
In the previous death toll, Tanay and Antipolo in Rizal, and Zambales each recorded a fatality, while Bulacan had six people who all died of drowning. One person died in Zambales due to a motorcycle accident, while one was killed in a landslide in Burdeos, Quezon.
Fifty-two people were recorded injured, 50 of them in Central Luzon and two from Calabarzon, the agency said in its latest report.
At least six people remain missing — five fishermen from Mercedes, Camarines Norte and another individual from Patnanungan, Quezon, it added.
Over ₱36.5 million worth of aid comprising family food packs and other non-food items were provided in affected areas in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and Cordillera Administrative Region, the council said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture reported that agricultural damage and losses ballooned to ₱2.02 billion as of Thursday.
The NDRRMC also reported that damage to infrastructure has reached over ₱23 million.
